Equation Maker Games

I call these games Equation Maker games.

I have used these for addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. They are really simple to draw up if you want to make your own or I have some premade ones available in my Math Board Games sets.

To make an addition one, you just need to draw 3 blocks then add the addition sign and equals sign. Put in the numbers that could make addition equations and it is ready to play.

The players make equations by covering one number in each set on a turn, e.g. 3+9=12. As there are fewer and fewer numbers, it becomes more and more challenging until the winner is the last one who can make an equation. These are simple to make but also a great challenge for the kids to play!
Here is an addition version.

This one is for subtraction.

This also works for multiplication!

This is one for division.

You can also make the numbers larger as in the addition game below to make the game more challenging.

If you would prefer some premade games, I have included Equation Maker games in some of my Math Board Games sets.

Sight Word Games

Let's make learning sight words fun with some games!
Children need to experience sight words in a variety of situations. So I created some games that will give children a fun way to practice sight words.

These games started like this.

In this game, the players roll the dice and find a circle with the number on the dice. If they can read the word, they cover the circle. The player who covers the last circle is the winner.
For the Tic Tac Toe game, the players read a word and cover it with a counter. The game is played just like Tic Tac Toe but if you can't read the word, you can't cover the space!

Of course these games are very simple to draw up on paper if you want to try them or you might like what I have created.
These games work so well that they quickly evolved into 5 sets of games that look like this -

I have used the Dolch sight words for the games and there are 5 sets -
Pre-Primer
Primer
First Grade
Second Grade
Third Grade.

There are 8 colored board games in each set and these games are also provided in black and white to give you a variety of ways to play the games.

The colored Bubble Games can be played like the game above with dice and counters.

The colored Tic Tac Toe games can be played with different colored counters as markers.

For the black and white games, you can use pencils or pens to color or mark the space.

The games can also be played with dot markers or you can use counters so you can use the game sheet more than once if you like.
The black and white games are ideal as a homework activity and children can play the games with their parents.
You can also print them 2 to a page so that children can play 2 games on the one sheet of paper.
